1970s Omega Seamaster Cosmic 166.026 - Freshly Serviced Automatic Cal. 565

$999.00

Here is a lovely Seamaster Cosmic from 1970s. For some of the Seamaster lines, Omega had created what's called the Monocoque case, or simply put - 1 piece case. At the time, Omega thought the fundamental problem with traditional watch cases is that every joint is a potential leak point. A standard case has at least two major sealing points: the case back gasket and the crystal gasket. So every time a watchmaker opens the case for service, those seals get disturbed and need replacing. The primary design benefit for the 1 piece case was enhanced water resistance and eliminated a few common points of failure.

This Seamaster Cosmic has a silver sunburst dial with baton indices on 12, 9 and 6. Date window at 6. It's on the original Omega bracelet. Omega signed crystal. It's powered by the Omega automatic cal. 565 that has been freshly serviced. All around in excellent condition. It has a pretty cool Japanese engraving on the back. It was awarded for 20 years of continuous work at the Japanese electrical company established in 1953, called Shiba Kogyo K.K. One thing to note, at 10 o'clock there is a tiny chip that can be seen from certain light angles. This seems like a watchmaker mishap. Not age or corrosion related. Holds time perfectly and all the functions work. Happy to answer any questions and provide more pictures!
