1969 IWC Schaffenhausen 814AD - Cushion Case - Freshly Serviced - Automatic 8451 caliber

$1,600.00

A quick little history first - IWC was founded in 1868 by Florentine Ariosto Jones, a watchmaker from Boston who set up shop in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. He wanted to combine American-style engineering with Swiss craftsmanship, and that mix has defined the brand ever since. IWC has always been more about substance than flash, with technical, well-built watches - which they have proven to be just that in the last century.

This 1969 814AD is a perfect example. It comes in a stainless steel cushion case. not totally round, not quite square, with soft curved edges that are pure late-60s space age design. It sits flat and comfortable on the wrist and looks great dressed up, down or any style honestly.

The dial is clean and understated in classic IWC fashion - applied stick indices, a date window at 3, and a center sweep seconds hand. No clutter, just good proportions. It also has the signature IWC “fish” crown, a small detail that people love(i'm one of those people) It's on the original IWC milanese bracelet.

Inside is the in-house automatic caliber 8541B with IWC’s Pellaton winding system, which is about as good as vintage automatics get and it was completely serviced in January of 2026. Holds time accurately and quick set date works as it should. happy to answer any questions and provide more pictures!
