1966 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Ref. 1003 - Engine turned Bezel - With Box
There's something about a mid-sixties Rolex that newer watches just can't do. This 1003 left Geneva in 1966, back when an Oyster Perpetual wasn't a status symbol or an investment. It was a tool. Something you strapped on and forgot about while you got on with your life, whether that meant a desk job, a long flight, or a late night in a city you'd never been to before.
The 34mm case is classic Rolex proportion, the size that just looks right.(yes even on a 7" wrist 🙄) The silver dial has held up remarkably well, still crisp and clean after sixty years. Somebody looked after this watch. The machined bezel catches the light every time you glance down, a little flash of polish on an otherwise honest, unfussy- clean watch.
Then there's the bracelet. It sits on an original, period-correct 7205 riveted Oyster bracelet. Those little rivets along the side are pure sixties Rolex, and it wears light and comfortable in a way that reminds you how good the old stuff is.
Wear it with a white shirt and rolled sleeves, or with a beat-up jacket to a taco truck - somewhere far from home. It doesn't need an occasion. Just needs to be worn.
It's powered by the automatic Rolex 1570 Perpetual automatic movement that holds time accurately. The maximum size on the bracelet is 7.4" + 1 additional link.
