1965 Seiko Grand Seiko "Self Dater" 5722-9990 - Manual winding 5722A Chronometer Movement

$1,700.00

Here is the watch that put Switzerland on notice. This is a 1965 Grand Seiko Self Dater 5722-9990. It was the first GS with a date complication and a chronometer certified all in-house 5722A manual winding caliber movement. High caliber finish from the polished indices and hands to the details on the caseback - as expected from the Grand Seiko line. This design was a bit of a blueprint for the modern Grand Seiko. On the caseback, it's engraved with "Commemorating 30 years of continuous service - Fuji Photo Film Co., LTD - which is now Fujifilm.

It's paired on a new beads of rice bracelet from Seiko Straps that fit this watch perfectly, as most of these 5722 models came on a leather strap - they have deteriorated over the years and honestly - BOR looks so good on a case design such as this. It's powered by the Chronometer certified manual winding caliber, the 5722A that runs great. These came on a Seiko crown, but prior owner has replaced it with a genuine vintage Grand Seiko one. Holds time well and all functions work as they should. Happy to answer any questions and provide more pictures!
